It would be hard to use them as two cache pools, since /mnt/user/appdata needs to have a single default cache pool assigned to it where new files will be placed, so Unraid wont "load balance" your files for you. To add them to your system, perform the following steps: Click Add Container on the Docker tab in the webGui. ![]() ![]() Again, just make sure that the appdata share is set to only be on the cache pool.įinally, your movies and other media will be at /mnt/user/SOMETHING, where SOMETHING will most likely just be on the array or set to "yes" for cache pool so new files are placed on the cache and then moved over to the array when the mover runs.įor the SSD, just use both of them in the same cache pool, so that it is redundant (raid1). GNS3-server Software dependencies Docker support Branches master 2.x (2.3 for example) Linux Linux (Debian based) Docker container Run as daemon (Unix only). In contrast to virtual machines (VMs), Docker containers share the host operating system’s (in this case, Unraid’s) kernel. Then the actual Plex data (as in your library and metadata, NOT your media) will be at /mnt/user/appdata/Plex (Can be where ever, but normally it's at that path). Because Unraid uses the Linux Kernel, implementing Docker for application management was the logical thing to do. We build a basic network using GNS3 version 22. When you install the docker it automatically places the docker in this image file, you don't have choice. In this first video, I show you how to download the components you require and how to install the GNS3 GUI on Windows 10. Just make sure you have the System share set to only be on the cache pool. This file is, by default, created at /mnt/user/system. The dockers (as in the code you pull from docker hub) are installed in the docker.img file specified in the Docker settings page. If I'm understanding the setup correctly, I believe I should set up each one as its own separate cache pool, but how does Unraid know which one to store the Plex container on? Obviously, there must be a way to specify this, but this is the crucial step I can't seem to find any guidance on. I've come across one forum post mentioning that Unraid installs all Docker containers to cache drives (if available) by default, but I don't know if that's true or not.Īnyway, in addition to my main array storage disks, I have two SSDs that I've been planning on using as cache drives-one for caching file transfers to the array and the other for the Plex container/data. I've seen countless people recommend keeping your Plex server container on an SSD for better performance, but in every how-to guide/video I've seen there's no apparent step where you actually specify where the Plex container is installed. I'm in the process of setting up my first Unraid machine (which will be used almost exclusively for Plex), and I'm struggling with understanding how Docker containers work. ![]()
